Hallo Goggomobil liebhaber,
My plan is to buy a coupe that is somewhat quick driveable, so I can drive it around and learn all the things and do a frame off restauration in the future. I have been looking on Mobile.de, there have been some interesting cars over past few years. Most of them are somewhat restored, painted but usually u can see the critical points just patched with bondo, the wheel arches not being the exact shape, the door sils warped the allu leiste on 99 percent missing. I do understand that the allu leiste is the culprit of rust, but somehow it belongs to the look of the car. I can clean, fix the engine I think, do the brakes, fight the electric.
Basically a car that can pass the TUV with some work, I do not mind a car that has sat years in garage. Hope you understand what I mean. Uwe warned me already about the preselect gearbox, that it can give the owner more than a headake. I kinda like the suicide door, but it is not a must. I do think the suicide door is better for entering the car specially for me being 1,9 meter tall. If anybody has a work shop manual for Goggo, I am interested in reading it. I want to be prepared. Also the preselect gearbox manual, I have no clue how it works and would like to learn.
I am 48 years old and have been dreaming of the Goggo for the past 10 years. I have read a lot about Hans Glas, Dingolfing factory and the history of the company. I would love to visit Dingolfing with my Goggo one day, of course driving it from Prague.
Thank you very much for any imput and thank to Uwe for being very nice to me.
With regards
Jan Micka
